Phoenix is already switching to drones

Phoenix flew its first official city drone show at Deer Valley Park in June 2025, and ran it again in June 2026. Corporate events are using them too: a 350-drone show lit up the Phoenix Convention Center during Axon Week 2025 (flown by Open Sky Drone Light Shows). You can watch both formats on our example shows page.

For Phoenix hosts, the practical draw is the fireworks rules. Since June 20, 2026, fireworks are banned on city property, within one mile of the mountain preserves, and near desert and regional parks under Stage 1 restrictions. A drone show avoids all of that, because nothing burns.

Where we fly in the Valley

We are based in the North Phoenix / Cave Creek area and serve the whole Valley: North Phoenix, Deer Valley, Desert Ridge, Anthem, Paradise Valley and central Phoenix. Each venue gets an airspace check first. Phoenix Sky Harbor, Deer Valley Airport and Luke AFB all shape where and how high we can fly, so send us the address early.

Why drones instead of fireworks in the desert

How a drone show works

  1. Tell us the moment. Date, place, audience size and what you want people to feel.
  2. Site and airspace check. We look at the launch area, the crowd line, nearby airports and any permits or FAA approvals the location needs.
  3. Design and preview. We animate the show to your music and send a video preview before anything flies.
  4. Show night. The crew sets up, runs safety checks, flies the show inside a geofenced box and packs out.

What does a drone light show cost? (estimates)

Every show gets a written quote, because the date, location, length, design work and permits all change the price. These public numbers give a sense of the range. They are other operators' prices and industry averages, not Monsoon Drones quotes.

Rough guide only: smaller private shows (25–100 drones) cost less in total but more per drone, because setup, crew and design costs are spread over fewer aircraft. Ask us for a real number for your date.

Questions

Can you fly a drone show in Phoenix city limits?

Often, yes, but it depends on the site. Airport proximity, controlled airspace, crowd layout and any city event permits all matter. Send us the venue address and we will check it before quoting.

How far ahead should I book a Phoenix drone show?

As early as possible, and several months ahead for July 4th and New Year's Eve, because site checks and approvals take time.

Is a drone show safe?

Shows are flown over a cleared area set back from the audience, with pre-flight checks on every aircraft and geofencing that keeps the swarm inside its show box. Wind and rain limits are agreed in advance.

Do you need FAA approval?

Yes. Flying many drones from one controller needs an FAA waiver on top of the Part 107 commercial pilot certificate. Monsoon Drones is working through that process now, and we will tell you plainly what applies to your date and site.

What happens if it is windy?

Drones cannot fly safely in high wind or rain. We watch the forecast with you and agree a backup plan, such as a rain date, before the show.
